Co-founder Steve Witt will lead over 30 consultants on an epic charity Inca Trail trek in Peru in May 2024 with key trade partner G Adventures.

Funds raised will be donated to Breast Cancer UK, a charity that was carefully chosen to support one of Not Just Travel’s most successful agents, Rachael Colman, who has bravely battled the disease several times.

Consultants will be able to combine the archaeological and cultural treasures with the challenge of one of the world’s best-known treks as they tackle the four-day Inca Trail to Machu Picchu passing through a stunning combination of the region’s ruins, mountainscapes and cloud forests.

“We will be hiking 25 miles in total and reaching the highest point of the trek at Dead Woman’s Pass. This is at an incredible 4,198m (13,769 ft),” says G Adventures Global Purpose Specialist Katie Bunting who will join members of the Not Just Travel group.

“I am really excited to be a part of this fantastic trip to Peru, whilst raising funds for such an incredible cause. Peru is a key destination for us, so being able to share this with Not Just Travel staff and employees will be really special. It’s not going to be easy but I know we are all up to the challenge and I am excited to see what funds we can raise.”

G Adventures runs its own treks to ensure the fair treatment of its porters or ‘Inca Warriors’ who will be on hand to feed, support and encourage agents.

“Our chefs serve up three delicious meals each day along the way and all of the snacks needed for energy boosts. Our team of porters carry, set up and take down tents each day and all agents will need to do is carry their own daypack. A local guide will also be there to lead the journey and inform everyone about the culture and sights.”

The itinerary will also include a variety of optional experiences in Lima including a cooking class to get a taste of Peruvian cuisine, white water rafting in grade 3-4 rapids on the Upper Vilcanota stunning mountain scenery. Agents will also visit the Parma Community Restaurant and Women’s Weaving Co-operative.

Says Witt: “G-Adventures is a great key trade partner and has put together a fantastic itinerary that also supports local communities and takes in many of Peru’s highlights. Due to Covid our last charity trek was to Colombia in support of Mind and we can’t wait to support another great cause whilst exploring a popular tourist destination and pushing ourselves to the limit.”
