Diary from our Seminar at Seas onboard a Virgin Voyages’ cruise ship

We decided to do something a little different for our blog this week and give you a day-by-day diary of what it’s like to be on one of our Seminar at Seas – a week-long cruise with expert coaching on how to be a cruise entrepreneur.

Day One: Sunday

Yesterday we flew to Barcelona to hop onboard one of Virgin Voyages’ latest cruise ships and we invited 100 of our consultants to come along too.

As we boarded, it was clear that this is a contemporary and edgy ship right from the start – and not just because there’s a tattoo salon onboard (yes, really).

After a convivial welcome where you’re made to feel like a rock star, we were led to sleek smart-tech cabins with hammocks swaying from the terrace and super comfy beds that convert to sofas if you want to sit and enjoy the breathtaking views.

Getting hungry we went in search of a snack and were amazed at the endless options from freshly baked pizza and burgers with plenty of veggie options too.

We tuck in without feeling guilty – we’ve been told that there’s plenty of places to work off the calories including a spacious gym, free exercise classes and an outdoor running track that snakes around one of the decks.

We leave Barcelona at 6pm to a fanfare from the ship’s horns and DJs pumping tunes.

Virgin staff dressed in vivid red outfits and sunglasses dance alongside passengers on decks and around the pool as we begin our cruise around the Med to our first port of call, Cannes.

For dinner we head to Wake, a casual yet classy speciality restaurant, where we tuck into an excellent steak with staff treating us like celebrities.

At the end of the meal we’re too excited to sleep, which is just as well as the party NEVER stops on this cruise ship.

Take your pick from the glitzy nightclub, sip a cocktail at one of the alfresco areas where DJs mix cool tunes or take in a cabaret – the choice is yours.

Feeling a little jaded after the flight to Barcelona we sneak off to the hot tub for a late night dip before heading back to our sleek cabin.

Day 2: Monday

Waking up to an amazing sunrise we are told we are only a few hours out of our first port of call Cannes, the playground of the French Riviera.

We sit down and tuck into an incredible freshly prepared breakfast, although some agents opt for the grab-and-go bento fruit boxes and eat them in their cabins.

Today we begin our Seminar at Sea where consultants join our experts in a classroom setting from 8am-12 noon to learn tips on becoming a cruise entrepreneur.

Our co-founders Paul and Steve kick off the event and our agents are clearly keen to soak up their knowledge.

After the session it’s time for a behind-the-scenes tour with Virgin Voyages staff who take us to parts of the ship we never knew existed.

It’s the beginning of a week-long money-can’t-buy experience and we’re enjoying every minute of it.

Afternoons are set aside to explore the ship or a destination and today is our first offshore day. We arrive at Cannes, but as the ship is too large to dock, tenders ferry passengers to and from shore.

Check in tomorrow to find out what it was like…. And how you can join us on the next cruise…
