Meet Ruth and Todd, who joined us in February 2020, just before the pandemic changed life as we know it. With a juggling act of 3 kids, homeschooling, full-time jobs, and their travel business, we wanted to see just how they do it and what their secret to success is.
Just in the last few months, we’ve sold nearly £60,000 of holidays. The U.S, Caribbean, and Greece have been very popular for us.

How would you describe your experience since joining?
Life-changing and interesting. Helping people to get a dream holiday is a lovely product to work with…
We say ‘interesting’ because we started in a pandemic, and it’s a completely new industry for us to work in but we just love it!
Todd is a general manager for an aviation company and I have my own beauty business which is currently closed.

Last week you completed the 4-day, virtual Millionaires’ Retreat, how was it?
It was incredible. It’s 4 days all about personal and business development.
We just came away feeling so inspired.
There were some incredible guest speakers and we also heard from Co-Founders Steve and Paul.
For example, Steve went through the process of how to make your first million, which was so interesting.
The time management bit was also really useful. It was about prioritising, and always planning your week ahead.
A practical tip we took away, which we’ve now implemented, is getting up early before the kids even wake.
It’s just 1 hour of peace and quiet, but you can make this 1 hour really count.
What’s the secret to your success?
Two things. The first is to always be positive, no matter what. If you come in negative or lacking energy you won’t make it.
We’ve been open-minded and embraced being outside our comfort zone from day 1. Without this, you’re unlikely to make it.
We’ve had friends who said I cannot believe you’ve invested in a travel business in these times.
We’ve just turned around and said…
‘We’ve had car loans that have cost us more than this business. When you join you’re not just buying a product, this is an investment in your own personal development and growth’
The second is having a great company like Not Just Travel behind you, we cannot fault them.
The ongoing support and guidance have been critical to our success. If we had gone it alone we would be in a very different place.
For example, we have weekly calls with our partnership manager and mentor. Everyone gets one when they join.
We cannot sing the praises of Ben, our first mentor, and Dave our latest travel and personal development coach enough.

For any parents out there, what advice would you give them?
We have 3 kids, 2 of which we are homeschooling.
The thing we would say is that whether you put in 40 hours a week or just 5 hours a week, it’s completely possible to be successful in this business.
We’ve both got other jobs, so we are not full-time travel consultants.
As long as we give it our all in that 1 or 2 hours we have, it can still be done.
It’s all about working smarter not longer.
What’s been the biggest highlight in the journey so far?
Dave our current travel coach and mentor is fantastic.
He’s given us a huge confidence boost and has changed our mindset for the better.
When you join you’ll be encouraged to create a Facebook page and group, in which you can share handpicked offers or incredible deals.
Dave encouraged me to do a Facebook live, I was so nervous, I’d never done one before.
At the end of the Facebook Live, I announced a mini competition, a chance to win a box of Hotel Chocolat.
I said “The person who adds the most people to this Facebook group and accepts the invite, will win the box chocolates.”
401 people joined the group in a week, and it’s still growing!
This one action has brought us new customers and enquiries.
