Jenny has spent the last fifteen years working in health and safety management.
And while she loves travelling and has done plenty of it, she has never really considered working in the travel industry professionally until…
A franchise opportunity caught her eye as she was browsing the internet while recovering from an operation.
A few webinars later, she signed up. On her birthday, as it happens.
“Happy birthday to me,” she laughs. “Bit of an unusual one.”
Why she chose the Lite package
Jenny, a mum of two, is still working full time and managing a busy household, so when she decided to join The Travel Franchise, she wasn’t looking to throw everything up in the air and start from scratch. She was looking for something she could build alongside the life she already had.
The Lite package gives her the flexibility and control to work on her own terms.
“I felt there was quite a lot to learn and I wanted to get into the booking side of things before I dove straight in,” she says. “It gives me an entry into the industry, time to learn properly, time to build a client base, and time to get ready for the next step.”
That is precisely what the Lite package is designed for. Rather than handling bookings independently from day one, Lite members work alongside an experienced travel consultant who manages the booking process while the new member focuses on building relationships, finding customers and learning the business. The commission is shared, the pressure is lower, and the learning curve is far more manageable.
For Jenny, it also came down to practical realities. The lower entry cost meant she could get started without taking a significant financial risk, and the flexibility meant she could fit it around her job and family without having to choose between them.
“It’s low risk,” she says. “I can build around my job and focus on the learning and the networking without immediately jumping into a whole new world.”
Her first booking: 48 hours after completing training
Once Jenny made the decision to sign up, she was excited to get started.
Before she finished her training, she had already been thinking about who her first customer might be. Her sister-in-law was getting married and had been thinking about a honeymoon. Jenny reached out, asked if she would be willing to let her have a look at options, and got a yes.
She had to wait until after her training to do anything with it officially. Within 48 hours of Jenny completing her training day and the booking was official. A week in Majorca for a mini moon, with a longer trip planned for later in the year.
“I was a bit eager,” Jenny admits. “I reached out before I’d even started my training. But it worked out timing-wise and she booked really quickly.”
Her experienced travel mentor, Donna, supported her through the process. They have been having regular one-to-ones, working through how leads come in, what to focus on, and how to build a presence on social media. Jenny has already grown her Instagram to over 200 followers in just a couple of weeks, reaching out to personal contacts and posting content alongside building her client base.
“We’ll work well together long term,” she says. “It’s an amazing opportunity to learn from someone who’s been in the business for a while.”
What the Lite package actually gives you
What makes the Lite package so appealing?
In short, you’re not thrown in at the deep end right away. You are paired with an experienced consultant who has already built the kind of business you are working towards. They handle the booking complexity while you focus on the part that matters most in the early stages: finding people, building trust, and learning how the industry works from the inside.
The result is that you can start part time, keep your existing job, and build at a pace that suits your life. There is no pressure to go full time before you are ready. There is no expectation that you already know what you are doing. The whole point of Lite is to give you a real business to build, with real support behind you, while you find your feet.
And when the time is right, upgrading to Elite is always an option.
“I’d love to be in a position to upgrade and take things to the next level,” Jenny says. “But I’ll wait until the right time. For now I’m just building something for my family and our future. Something that’s kind of timeless, because if you’ve got a regular client base and you’re working with great people, you can pretty much continue doing it forever.”

Who the Lite package is right for
Jenny’s situation will feel familiar to a lot of people reading this. A full-time job. A busy family life. A genuine interest in travel and a real desire to build something of her own, but not the time, the budget, or the confidence to go all in straight away.
If that sounds like you, the Lite package is worth a proper look. It is not a watered-down version of the business. It is a smarter way to start, one that lets you learn the industry properly, build a client base gradually, and make the move to full independence when you are genuinely ready for it rather than before.
Jenny secured her first booking within 48 hours of completing her training. She is a few weeks in, fitting it around a full-time job and two kids, and she is already building momentum.
